Hi, I'm Frederick. I am currently a research technician in the Department of Comprehensive Dentistry at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio.

My research is balanced between experimental and computational work for materials science. At the bench, I study surface chemistry modifications with polymer composite materials, developing and characterizing them with antifouling properties. Computationally, there has been significant interest in using machine learning techniques to generate new and promising formulations, and my work there focuses on automating the data extraction process from literature to generate and open-source standardized datasets for broader use by the scientific community.

I studied Biomedical Engineering and Chemistry at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and North Carolina State University. There, I was previously an engineering intern at UNC Health's Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation and Abrams Scholar conducting bioinformatics research at UNC's Chemical Research Instrumentation Teaching and Core Labs.

Broad topics of interest are in materials characterization, informatics, and open problems in discovery/design.
